Intent

At Whitley Park Primary we believe that it is vital for all our pupils to learn from and about religion. The Whitley Park Primary Religious Education Curriculum aims to engage pupils in an enquiry approach where they can develop an understanding and appreciation for the expression of beliefs, cultural practices and influence of principle religions and world views in the local, national and wider global community. We encourage our pupils to ask questions about the world and to reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences. It promotes respect and open-mindedness towards others with different faiths and beliefs and encourages pupils to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection. We endeavour to further enrich our Religious Education Curriculum with trips to places of worship in our local area. We use the Discovery Religious Education Scheme of Work as the basis for our curriculum
